For a week in January, everything revolves around the witch theme at Belalp ski resort. The Hexenabfahrt culminates on Saturday with the big downhill ski race running 12 km from Hohstock to Blatten (1,800 meters of elevation loss). Various other races and entertainment take place throughout the week, including Witches Nights and a children's witch festival. This traditional sporting event since 1983 attracts skiers and spectators from around the world.
