The Belalp Hexenabfahrt is the highlight of a whole week dedicated to witches at the Blatten-Belalp ski resort. This popular ski race, inspired by an old Valais legend, celebrates its 45th edition with a 12 km descent from the Hohstock (3,100 m) down to Blatten (1,300 m), covering 1,800 m of vertical drop. Participants compete either in the "racers" category on skis or dressed as witches on skis or snowboard. The week also features additional races, the Witches Nights and a children's witches festival.
