The Belalp Hexenabfahrt is the undisputed highlight of a whole week dedicated to witches at the Blatten-Belalp ski resort. The 12 km mass downhill run starts at the Hohstock at 3,100 m and finishes in Blatten at 1,300 m, with 1,800 m of vertical drop. Participants can enter as "racers" or dressed up as witches, in a mystical atmosphere inspired by an old Valais legend. The week also features other races, the Witches Nights and a witches' children's festival.
