The Belalp Hexenabfahrt is a popular ski race in Valais, organized for over 43 years and has become a local institution. With a distance of 12 km and 1800 m elevation loss, the scenic course runs from Hohstock (3100 m) to Blatten (1300 m). The event spans a full week with preliminary races, witches' nights, and a children's festival, culminating in the main race on Saturday where participants compete as racers or in witches' costumes.
