The Belalp Witch Descent is a popular week-long ski race in January, with its climax on Saturday: a 12-km run from Hohstock (3100m) to Blatten (1300m). The event combines a mystical atmosphere, competitive skiing, and extensive entertainment with Witches Nights and children's activities. This Valais tradition dates back over 43 years and attracts competitive racers and participants dressed as witches from around the world.
