About
On Martinmas (November 11), Sursee celebrates its unique Gansabhauet tradition. Young boys, blindfolded and wearing sun-shaped masks, attempt to knock down a goose with a blunt saber, while children compete in tree-climbing races, sack hopping, and contests. Since 1997, a lighted parade through the old town concludes the festivities.
