The festival
Paléo Festival Nyon is an open-air music festival held in Nyon, in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It has existed since 1976 and is run as a non-profit, independent association supported by thousands of volunteers, with stated foundations in respect, solidarity and sustainability. The event is described as Switzerland's largest open-air festival.
The programme spans several stages, among them the Grande Scène, Véga, Club Tent, Belleville, Dôme, Face Nord, L'Escale and La Ruche, plus a Village du Monde area. The musical range is broad: rock, pop, rap, electro, techno, house, soul, folk and country, French chanson, reggae and dancehall, Afrobeat, zouk, reggaeton, classical music and traditional music. A number of Swiss artists appear in the line-up, and the Village du Monde hosts traditional and folk programming. Alongside the concerts, the festival includes street-arts and performance acts that run on several dates, such as fanfare and balkan-style groups, circus and company pieces, and roaming performances.
