The festival
OpenAir St. Gallen is a Swiss music festival held in the Sittertobel area near the city of St. Gallen, in a location described as a nature reserve close to the town. It has existed since 1977 and is organised by the Gadget Entertainment Group. The festival is run by a festival management team covering areas such as production, booking, communications, finances, food and beverages, and cashless payment, supported by section and department heads as well as several thousand volunteers per edition. A small permanent staff works year-round.
The programme is described as featuring many trendsetters, and the festival presents itself as one of Switzerland's top festivals, known for its organisation and its lineup. It is characterised by a loyal audience and by ongoing dialogue with festival-goers, whose feedback is taken up and implemented. The event is also presented as a temporary small town in an untouched landscape, with concrete measures in the areas of ecology, transparency and communication.
A distinctive feature is that the campsite is spread across the entire festival grounds, so the stages and the tent area are not separated from each other. This layout has consequences for ticketing: there are no one-day passes for Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Someone who wants to see an act on Friday needs a three-day pass, and for an artist playing on Saturday a two-day pass is required. Only a Sunday one-day pass exists.
Getting there, on site
The regular advance sale starts on 5 December at 10 a.m. A four-day pass (Thursday to Sunday) costs CHF 299, a three-day pass (Friday to Sunday) CHF 275, a two-day pass (Saturday and Sunday) CHF 239, and a one-day pass for Sunday CHF 109. VIP versions exist for the same durations at higher prices. Prices include VAT and advance sale fees but exclude service fees. The ticket price includes travel to and from the festival by public transport from anywhere in Switzerland, camping, and a CHF 5 climate contribution. Fanticket passes at two price levels are listed as sold out, as are the three-day and two-day VIP passes and Comfort Camping. Tickets are not personalised and may be passed on; buyers are asked to use official sales channels only, as validity is not guaranteed for tickets bought through third parties such as Viagogo. Those who buy their ticket by 27 May 2026 receive their festival wristband by post; afterwards tickets are exchanged for wristbands on site. Food options include a Foodie Pass offering smaller tasting portions at selected stands, and brunch offerings.
