The festival
The OpenAir St. Gallen is a long-running music festival held in St. Gallen, Switzerland, situated in a natural setting near the city. It has been taking place since 1977 and is known for its location within a nature conservation area, its line-up featuring many trendsetting artists, and its loyal audience. The festival is recognized both nationally and internationally for its organization and programming, and it maintains a strong reputation in the European festival scene. Over the decades, it has kept its status as one of Switzerland's top festivals, engaging in ongoing dialogue with its audience to incorporate feedback. The festival's unique feature is that the campsite is integrated throughout the entire festival grounds, not separated from the stages. This layout influences the ticketing structure, as there are no single-day tickets for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. To see an artist performing on Friday, one must purchase a three-day pass, and for a Saturday act, a two-day pass is required. The festival also offers VIP ticket options and additional experiences like a foodie pass for sampling dishes at selected stalls and brunch offerings.
Getting there, on site
Tickets for the 2026 edition go on general sale starting December 5 at 10:00. The ticket price includes public transport to and from the festival from anywhere in Switzerland, camping access (since the campsite is spread across the entire festival area), and a CHF 5 climate contribution for sustainability efforts. Various pass options are available: a four-day pass from Thursday to Sunday costs CHF 299, a three-day pass from Friday to Sunday costs CHF 275, a two-day pass for Saturday and Sunday costs CHF 239, and a single-day pass for Sunday only costs CHF 109. VIP passes are also offered, with a four-day VIP pass at CHF 499, a three-day VIP pass at CHF 399 (sold out), a two-day VIP pass at CHF 299 (sold out), and a Sunday VIP pass at CHF 160. Prices include VAT and advance booking fees but exclude service fees. Tickets purchased by May 27, 2026, will be sent by mail; after that, they can be exchanged for festival wristbands at the band exchange point. Tickets are not personalized and can be transferred, but the festival only guarantees validity for tickets bought through official channels. Comfort camping is sold out.
