The festival
The Heitere Open Air takes place on the Heitere-Platz in Zofingue, a recreational area on the local hill that is noted for its natural features, including a biotope, a pond with amphibians, forest edges, valuable woodland, and an orchard with old fruit varieties. The festival is described as a varied event with a diverse audience, and the 2026 edition featured 30 acts and 36,000 visits. The next edition is scheduled for August 6 to 8, 2027. The festival grounds include the Lindengeviert and surrounding areas, with two stages: the Lindenbühne and the Parkbühne. The event is family-friendly, with free entry for children born in 2016 or later when accompanied by a legal guardian, and a play area for younger attendees is located near the Lindenbühne. The program spans Friday through Sunday, with the concert area opening at different times each day and closing late at night on Friday and Saturday, and earlier on Sunday. The campsite opens earlier in the week, from Wednesday morning until Sunday evening. The festival emphasizes responsible enjoyment, with age restrictions for alcohol and tobacco sales, and a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks available. Attendees are encouraged to use public transport, with shuttle buses running from the train station and parking areas to the festival site at regular intervals. The site is largely wheelchair accessible, with terraces offering unobstructed views at both stages for visitors with disabilities, and accessible toilets are available. Various services are provided on site, including an information stand that also serves as a meeting point and lost property office, lockers for rent, power bank rentals, and first aid stations staffed by a local volunteer association. Payment can be made in cash, via TWINT, or with common debit and credit cards throughout the festival grounds.
Getting there, on site
The festival recommends traveling by train or bus to Zofingue, with connections available via the SBB. For those driving, parking is signposted, and a park and ride facility at Wikon is suggested due to potential congestion at other lots; the parking fee is 10 CHF per car. Free shuttle buses run from the train station and parking stops to the festival site approximately every 15 minutes, with extended service on Wednesday and Thursday for campers. The festival site is also reachable on foot from the station in about 15 minutes. The campsite is open from Wednesday morning to Sunday evening. Tickets must be exchanged for wristbands at designated stands, which are open from 10:00 on festival days. The wristbands are non-transferable and must be worn tightly on the right wrist. Prohibited items on the entire site include animals, weapons, fireworks, and other hazardous materials, while the concert area additionally bans glass, selfie sticks, and professional recording equipment. Visitors may bring up to 1.5 liters of non-alcoholic drinks in PET or Tetra Pak containers. Lockers are available for rent near the information stand, with a deposit and daily fee. Taxi stands are located on the road towards Zofingue. Free earplugs are available at various points, and a 24-hour emergency number is provided.
