About
The new novel by Tash Aw, multiple Booker Prize nominee, tells the story of a family in Malaysia in the late 1990s. Jay and his family manage his late grandfather's farm, facing almost insurmountable nature. The sultry, charged air becomes an ambiguous metaphor reflecting the Asian financial crisis of the era and forms the backdrop for sixteen-year-old Jay's coming-of-age as he begins a relationship with Chuan, the farm manager's son, in nights filled with desire. Simultaneous translation into German.
