About
The new novel tells the story of a family in Malaysia in the late 1990s. Through flashbacks, the plot follows teenager Jay and his family, who are expected to run his late grandfather's farm. The sultry, charged air becomes an ambiguous metaphor for the Asian financial crisis and forms the atmospheric backdrop to Jay's coming-of-age, as he begins a relationship with Chuan.
