Roitschäggättä takes place on Thursday and Saturday prior to Ash Wednesday. These wild figures clad in fur and hidden behind impressive wooden masks begin appearing as early as Candlemas (February 2). It's an ancient carnival tradition blending masked pranks with a spectacular parade.
