Bernarda and Silas grow up at Malmö City Theatre. Behind the scenes, amongst rehearsals and costumes, they find a place where the rules of adults do not apply. One event changes everything. Twenty-five years later, Bernarda is haunted by the past and must confront a long-suppressed tragedy. The novel explores childhood, memory and the spaces between play and reality.
