About
The narrator in Deborah Levy's new novel spends her time in Paris on a quest to find her friend's lost cat, but above all to find Gertrude Stein. She is supposed to write an essay about the writer but keeps getting stuck on it. The novel achieves a unique interweaving of content and form, bringing Gertrude Stein's style and thought to life in practice, in which Levy reflects on the present with the same intelligence and non-conformity as Stein did on her own time.
