The Basel Carnival is recognized as the largest popular festival in Switzerland, with around 15,000 to 20,000 masked participants. This grand celebration takes place from Monday through Thursday following Ash Wednesday, transforming Basel's streets into a spectacle of colors, elaborate costumes and live music. Traditional musical cliques, allegorical floats and festive atmosphere make Basel's Fasnacht an unforgettable experience of Swiss traditions.
